Three consecutive number one songs exposed The Jackson 5 to immediate globe-wide fame. They continued to produce brilliant and popular chart-topping tunes. In 1971, the Saturday morning cartoon “The Jackson 5” was first aired on network TV in the USA. In 1972, Michael was asked to sing the title song for the movie “Ben”. This signified the “beginning” of an incredibly successful solo career. However, he and his brothers’ achievement was not over yet. Soon after “Ben”, The Jackson 5 embarked on their first overseas tour. The tour commenced in England, where they performed for and met the Queen. They continued their tour through France, Switzerland, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. One victory followed another.
“Dancing Machine” was released- a disco song with a solid groove and a bright, synthesizer-enhanced sound. Along with the release of this song came the complete revelation of the MJ “package”. When an intuitive young Michael performed “Dancing Machine” on the TV show “Soul Train”, he became the dancing machine, performing a street-style dance move called the Robot.
